The S&P500 is down -7.82% for the month of December as of yesterday's close (12/16/2017. The S&P500 is down -13.43% from its 52-week high that it reached on 9/21/2018. And its down -4.78% year to date. The small-cap index has faired a lot worse. The Russell 2000 is down -10% this month, down -21% from its 52-week high that was reached on 8/31/2018 and down -10% year to date. $IIPR San Diego-based Innovative Industrial Properties provides real estate capital for the medical-use cannabis industry. According to the company's website, its strategy "is to act as a source of capital to these licensed medical-use cannabis growers by acquiring and leasing back their real estate locations." The REIT has a 2.8% annualized yield. Guardian Health $GH a recent new issue came public on 10/4/18 during a tough market environment but yet the stock has acted well. Guardant makes noninvasive blood-based cancer diagnostics tests based on proprietary technology. "The Guardant Health IPO priced 12.5 million shares at 19. That was above its estimated range of 15 to 17. Shares opened at 27.75 for an initial gain of 46%". On 11/29/18 Berkshire Hathaway disclosed that they took an 11.3% stake in $STNE a recent IPO that is in the credit card processing business in Brazil. You can read it about it HERE. Yesterday StoneCo $STNE reported; Adjusted net income soared to 89.3 million Brazilian reais from 5.7 million a year ago. Revenue jumped 121.4% to 414.1 million Brazilian reais. The market continues to be under pressure; the S&P500 is down -8% since it peaked in 9/20/2018, the small caps $IWM the weakest of them all is down -13% since it peaked on 9/4/2018. Most individual names are down a lot more than that. My advice when the market corrects is pretty consistent every time, be diligent with your stocks, take your losses, move on, and live to fight another day.
