It All Falls Down

By |2018-04-07T09:00:24-04:00April 7, 2018 9:00 am|

Volatility continues to ramp up, and it is starting to wear on people. We went 440 something days without a 5% correction and about 100 days without a 1% intraday drawdown in the S&P 500.  Sixty-six days into 2018 and we've already seen seven days were the S&P 500 has closed down 2% or more. Many people can't remember what volatility feels like and a majority don't like it. Via @OddStats 2018 is certainly not in great bull company. This week the indices across the board were firming up a bit. On Wednesday the Dow Jones had a huge turnaround, it [...]

Two Technically and Fundamentally Sound Companies

By |2018-04-05T11:17:49-04:00April 5, 2018 11:17 am|

In the video below I discuss how to use Investors Business Daily to narrow the universe of stocks to a select few that are technically and fundamentally sound. While doing that I came across two actionable ideas for today that fit the bill.   I’m opening my managed assets program if you have an interest or need a second opinion feel free to REACH OUT. Three Stocks

By |2018-04-04T12:53:29-04:00April 4, 2018 12:46 pm|

$MU $Z and $TWLO are three stocks that look great on both the daily and weekly timeframe. Micron was a name that people couldn't stop talking about a month ago; it rallied from $40 to $60 in a straight line on the back of non-stop aggressive bullish call buying. Micron's earnings number were impressive, but a lot of it was probably already baked into the stock in the short-term. Since its earnings announcement, the stock has retraced about ten points back to its 10-week moving average which is offering a decent risk reward trade. Micron's numbers were outright impressive; sales were [...]

Here Is How You Find Future Leaders

By |2018-04-03T11:02:55-04:00April 3, 2018 11:00 am|

It's no secret that the market has been under pressure. The year to date drawdown on the indices are not horrible, -3.5% for the S&P500, -4% for the Dow Jones and less than -1% for the Nasdaq 100. However, the drawdown from the January 26 high is a lot more significant, -11% for the Dow Jones, -10% for the S&P500 and -12% for the Nasdaq 100 from its 3/13/18 peak. For those that don't own the indices as core holdings, now might be a good time to own some since these type of drawdowns are a common practice as you [...]

Your Biggest Fear

By |2018-03-25T07:10:42-04:00March 25, 2018 7:10 am|

By now you've probably read all the headlines; "Wall Street tumbles on trade war fears; tech financial weigh." "Dow drops more than 400 points into correction, posts worst week since January 2016". "NASDAQ 100 Plunges 7.3% in a week, most since August 2015". It was a nasty week for the indices, the S&P500 lost -5.89%, and it's down -9.60% since the 1/26 peak, the Dow Jones lost -5.61% this week, and it's down -11.19% since January 26. If you guys don't remember, January 2016 and especially 2015 were both nasty times as you can see below. Corrections happen, they happen [...]

What I’m Expecting From This Trade

By |2018-03-20T21:04:00-04:00March 20, 2018 9:04 pm|

I bought $AAXN today at $38.20. It showed up in one of my favorite scans to run when the market is down three days or more in a row. The scan is simple; it spits out every stock and ETF that is down three days or more in a row and up today c1<c2 and c2<c3 and c3<c4 and c>c1. You can add a liquidity filter, a price filter, a moving average filter, etc.  And if you want to get a head start before the market opens and just see all the stocks that are down three days in a row [...]
